BOTTOM SAMPLE:

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Gold" (4202)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Gold" (4202)
  • SuperDuo beads "Chalk Vega aka Opaque Amethyst Luster"
  • 4mm druks "Fiesta Hollyhock"
  • 4mm druks "Opaque Turquoise Luster"

I made one more "Eclipse Bracelet" sample last night reversing the bead colors that I'd used in my previous sample. I still like the version with the purple SuperDuos but I had to satisfy my curiosity and see how it would look with turquoise SuperDuos and purple druks. I think that having the lighter color on the outside might work for someone with dark skin but it's not so nice against my pale skin. I need the darker purple to be the main color so that it stands out more.

If you look closely, you'll see that I did use some 3mm 24kt gold druks in the new sample. What didn't occur to me at the time was that I could have used some purple 3mm druks between the motifs. I completely forgot that I had them in that size. At least I was able to verify that the gold druks do look better than 8/0 seed beads there. I got the gold druks from Red Panda, HERE.

I just had a very close call. Last night when I removed my camera's battery to charge it, the little plastic latch that locks the battery inside the camera broke off. I thought at first that it was still going to work because closing the battery door kept the battery in place. At least the camera did turn on when I tested it. However, today when I went to take photos of these samples, I discovered that although the camera did turn on, I kept getting strange screens and messages when I tried to take pictures. Out of several attempts, I was only able to get this one photo and luckily it was a good shot.

The good news is that my husband was able to rig up something to help the battery make proper contact inside the camera and it seems to be working. Time will tell and I don't know what I'll do if this solution fails. I can't afford to buy another nice camera like this one that my son gave me and I know that they don't make this model anymore. I've been very happy with my camera because I can take very good photos with it even though I'm not a professional photographer. I like that I never have to change the settings and I can just point and shoot.

  1. I had the exact thing happen to my camera and was not in a position to buy a new one. I took it into the camera shop, that is no longer in business :-( and he fixed it for me for $10. I hope your camera keeps working for you as there is a lot of people that would sincerely miss seeing your beautiful beadwork on a daily basis. Good luck

    1. I would pay $10 to fix mine but I have a feeling it would cost a lot more than that, assuming that there is a camera repair shop near me. I don't know of one. Later today I'm going to try taking photos of the bracelet that I made yesterday. I sure hope it works.

  2. I really thought it was going to cost an arm and a leg too as the camera I have is a $600 canon rebel. I don't know if the guy just took pitty on me or if that was the going rate but hey I'll take it lol.
