Big SuperDuo Mandala Earrings - Blue Picasso & Pewter

BIG SUPERDUO MANDALA EARRINGS
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Pewter" (4222)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Pewter" (4222)
  • SuperDuo beads "Opaque Blue Picasso"
  • SuperDuo beads "Pearl Luster" (no longer available)

Today's earrings would go very well with the "Northern Star" bracelet that I blogged about HERE. I blogged HERE about a pair of matching "Bethany Earrings" but I think I like today's earrings even more with that bracelet. Although the "Pearl Luster" SuperDuo beads are no longer available, you can substitute the "Antique Silver" SuperDuos that I used to make the bracelet.

You can download the free earring pattern HERE on the Matubo bead site.

Big SuperDuo Mandala Earrings - Sky Blue & Chocolate

BIG SUPERDUO MANDALA EARRINGS
  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Metallic Potter's Clay" (YP0019)
  • 8/0 seed beads Toho "Metallic Potter's Clay" (YP0019)
  • SuperDuo beads "Saturated Dark Sky Blue"
  • SuperDuo beads "Chocolate Matte"

I blogged a few times last year about earrings that I made with this free pattern by Nela Kábelová. You can read those posts HERE, HERE and HERE. The pattern works great with SuperDuo color mixes but you can also make them with two or three separate colors as I've done with today's earrings.

Before making today's colorway, I tried two others and you can see the sample earrings below. The Miyuki copper seed beads caused the motif to cup too much as did the Toho nickel beads. These Toho copper seed beads worked perfectly and the color compliments the SuperDuos nicely. That's the odd thing about this pattern. Sometimes Toho beads produce flatter earrings and other times Miyuki seed beads work best. It varies from one seed bead color to the next and I'm sure that the SuperDuos are also a factor because their size can vary as well.

You can download the free earring pattern HERE on the Matubo bead site.

Esmeralda Earrings - Antique Silver

ESMERALDA EARRINGS
  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Pewter" (4222)
  • 11/0  seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Pewter" (4222)
  • 3mm fire polished beads "Antique Silver"

While looking through my bead stash for colors to use to make some more "Esmeralda Earrings", I decided to see if fire polished beads would work. I only have a enough 3mm fire polished beads in a couple of colors to make a complete pair and this was one of them. It turns out that fire polished beads work great with this pattern and it also turned out that I like this monochromatic metallic colorway very much.

I made these earrings by following THIS video tutorial by Designer Beadwork. Please note though that I make mine smaller than the ones in the video so all of the beads that I use are one size smaller than what she calls for. You can buy a copy of the pattern HERE on Etsy.

  • 15/0 seed beads Toho "Nickel Plated" (711)
  • 11/0  seed beads Toho "Nickel Plated" (711)
  • 3mm druks "Metallic Suede Pink"

I was recently wearing the earrings below (read about them in THIS post) and wondered why I had never made more in this design since then. I first blogged about this earring tutorial almost exactly four years ago HERE and again a few days later HERE.

Please note that I make mine smaller than the ones in the video so all of the beads that I use are one size smaller than what she calls for. Read my older posts for more information about this. The video is very easy to follow but you can buy a copy of the pattern HERE on Etsy.

Video Tutorial - Estate Earrings

ESTATE EARRINGS
  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 11/0 Delica beads "Opaque Glazed Luster Teal" (DB264)
  • 12mm Cushion Cut/Square Rivoli "Transparent Peach" (unknown brand)
  • 2mm fire polished beads "Transparent Gold Topaz Luster"
  • 3mm Czech bicones "Crystal Senegal"

After watching and trying the earring video tutorial that I blogged about yesterday, I was browsing my YouTube subscriptions and noticed that Stephanie from the Bronze Pony Beaded Jewelry channel had posted THIS new video that morning. What caught my attention was that the earrings in the video call for square rivolis and I happen to have some in exactly the size called for. I got them years ago and I don't know what brand they are or what the color is called. Mine are transparent so they don't have a foil backing like the ones used in the video. I thought I might have some trouble matching the peachy colored rivolis with the other beads in the earrings but that turned out to not be an issue. Because they are clear, the color doesn't really show that much when I wear the earrings and they look fine with the teal Delica beads.

Stephanie is a very good teacher and I had no trouble following along with the video. I'm also very pleased with how these earrings came out.

Video Tutorial - Beaded Earrings with Swarovski Crystals

BEADED EARRINGS WITH SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 3mm Czech pearls "Old Lace"
  • 4mm Czech bicones "Crystal Violet Luster"

I'd been meaning to try this pattern by Svetlana McDaniel for a very long time and finally got around to it last week. I recently bought a Roku so that I can watch YouTube video tutorials on our big TV while sitting on the couch with my beading supplies instead of at my computer. Svetlana's video is easy to follow even though it's in Russian because she has added captions in English for each step. I only messed up on my sample earring near the end where she adds the embellishment along the bottom edge. My earring turned out fine so I didn't bother going back and fixing it. The earrings are a little too fancy for my needs so I probably won't make the other earring.

You can watch the video HERE. She also has a free tutorial with diagrams HERE on her blog or you can buy the PDF version HERE in her Etsy shop.

You will need to use Jill Wiseman's tutorial (see the link below) but make them with seven rows instead of nine as Jill instructs.

Read THIS post where I explain how I finish and reinforce my Russian Leaf earrings. I also have information about how I stiffen my earrings in THIS post.
