Esmeralda Earrings - More samples

I was going to post another "Eclipse Bracelet" today but instead I'm squeezing in these earrings. I promise that tomorrow I will post the next bracelet.

I really love the design and shape of these earrings, especially in the smaller size. The regular size earrings are just a little too over-the-top for me because they're so huge. The small version is dainty enough that they don't give the appearance of being really big. Although I do like the colors that I used for my original samples, I've decided that I prefer how the earrings look when I use round beads (druks or pearls) all the same color and omit the bicones completely.

Read my original article about the YouTube video tutorial HERE. You can watch the video HERE.
You can buy the pattern for these earrings HERE on Etsy.

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457D)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457D)
  • 3mm druks "Pink Luster Turquoise"
The above sample is the large size earring. I made one just to see how I'd like it. It sure looks pretty but it's much too large for me.

  • 15/0 seed beads Toho "Bronze" (221)
  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Bronze" (221)
  • 3mm round Howlite stone beads "Turquoise" (Beads One)

  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457D)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457D)
  • 3mm druks "Rose Pink" (Nirvana Beads)

These last two samples are my favorites:

  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457D)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457D)
  • 3mm druks "Bronze"
  • 3mm druks "Opaque Gold & Smoky Topaz Luster"
I made one small tweak in the above sample. I used bronze druks in the three "points". It's not all that obvious in this particular sample, but I think I might try it sometime with the pearls that I used in the sample below. I'm curious to see how that would look. However, I'm thinking that using all pearls probably looks better because the bronze points would become sort of invisible and detract from the pretty shape created by the pearls. This tweak is probably a better option when using two coordinating druk colors where there isn't as much contrast between the main color and the points.

  2. Love the shape and design of these earrings and using all the same colored beads eliminates the problem of matching the two colors of beads and crystals.Where did you get the Nirvana beads online or from a shop? I have searched all over and can't find the pink luster turquoise in a 3mm. Not many shops online carry a good selection of 3mm druks which is too bad since the patterns sized down from 4mm to 3mm are so pretty without being to heavy and too large.

    1. I got the Nirvana beads from a local shop. The owner told me that she got them from them. I don't think they make the Pink Turquoise Luster druks in 3mm. I agree that it's a shame that 3mm druks are so hard to come by. When I go to the wholesale bead websites, I see lots of colors that nobody ever seems to sell. I think I need to become a 3mm druk distributor!

  3. I think you should become a distributor as well!! You do so much beading and know what items are most sought after and in short supply. I am sure your blog draws enough interest that advertising would be no problem. I'll be your first customer it would be nice to be able to go to one spot instead of spending hours on the internet. You can tell how many gals read your blog and try out the patterns you post because when you go to your regular bead store online those items are always out of stock shortly after your posting goes up.
