DUO BOBBLE BAND VARIATION (Liz Band)
- 11/0 seed beads Miyuki “Olivine” (458)
- SuperDuo beads “Chalk Picasso Luster” (DUO503000-65415)
- 3mm Picture Jasper round stone beads
To get the neat points, I wove back around and skipped the center seed bead of each motif which made them pop up by pulling the thread snug.
For some reason the color of these beads reminds me more of wood than stone. I think that this bracelet has a very earthy, natural look. I found the jasper stone beads at Aura Crystals. The SuperDuo beads that I used may be hard to find. I got mine from Aria Design Studio on Etsy but she no longer has them and I haven't seen that color anywhere else.
UPDATE 2/13/18: A free pattern is now available and the new name for this pattern is "Liz Band". Visit THIS post to download the free pattern.
I just did a Google search for the color name and number for the "Chalk Picasso Luster" SuperDuo beads and learned something interesting. According to THIS online bead shop the "03000" part of the number means that they have a "chalk white" base. The "65415" is the coating code, which in this case is "Orange Luster". Their photo looks much whiter/lighter than the ones I've got. Mine have a very rich, golden "toasted" color. They're very similar to "Opaque Luster Picasso" (aka "Champagne Luster Picasso" 65401) but quite a bit darker, as you can see in my photo. I think I may have actually seen that "Orange Luster Picasso" color elsewhere but was hesitant to buy them because I was afraid they might really be orange. You can't always trust the photos you see online.

I love all of the information you give! I am so enjoying this blog. I look forward to it every day.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeanie. Fortunately, I've kept track of what beads I've used for most of my projects in case I want to make them again. Not sure what I'll do if I ever run out of bracelets to post for my BOTD, LOL. That's not likely to happen any time soon though. I've got loads of patterns that I haven't tried yet. I've got a pair of earrings in the works to go with today's bracelet. I just need the time to make them.
DeleteYou can also go to artbeads.com and get them.
ReplyDeleteHi, congrats for the beautiful work, is it possible to have the tutorial of the bracelet?
ReplyDeleteI hope to have a tutorial for it soon.
DeleteBeautiful bracelet. I have Deb Roberti's pattern. Cannot work out. Do you just follow the pattern and use the superduos as a direct replacement for the 4mm beads in the pattern? I love hearing but I don't have the knowledge yet to do replacement. It is thanks to you I took up beading. You are an inspiration. Your work is beautiful and your eye for colours is inspiration.
ReplyDeleteNo, you cannot simply replace the 4mm beads with SuperDuos. I'm hoping to publish a pattern for this version sometime but I can't say when that will be.
DeleteDo you have a pattern yet
