As soon as I made this bracelet, I realized that it will go perfectly with my "Chocolate" shirt. If you recall, I blogged about my shirt last March HERE. In the photo below the shirts look very pink but they're actually a little more peachy/pink with bits of a sort of rusty color. I like this bracelet even better than the one in that earlier post but it doesn't go well with those earrings. I'll see what I can come up with for some earrings that will better suite the style of this bracelet.
This bracelet was adapted from Puca's "Camille Bracelet" pattern which you can buy HERE on Etsy (this pattern is no longer available).
Thank you, Linda, for another beautiful creation! And thanks even more for the photo of you with your friends. It's so nice to finally put a face to the person who has been giving us a glimpse of all her wonderful bracelets and earrings, as well as all her design and beading tips. Love the t-shirts! There just isn't anything better than sitting beading with something chocolate to munch on, is there?!!!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that I'm the chocolate addict on the left. In the center is my friend, Lorraine, who lives in England. On the right is my cousin, Laurie. We're known as the "L's". I'm L1, Lorraine is L2 and Laurie is L3.
DeleteYou must have a great deal of self control to love chocolate and still be "Lindalowcarb" ?!!! It's hard .............. !
DeleteYes, it can be a challenge, especially at Christmas time. I've been in maintenance for quite a few years now so I do allow myself a treat now and then. I just have to be very careful because one treat can lead to another and so on...
DeleteBy the way, they do make some pretty good sugar free chocolate these days. It's kind of expensive though so I rarely buy it. Last Christmas I used some to make a yummy flourless chocolate torte.
DeleteHi Linda!! Just wanted to say that I'm so glad to see a picture of you, and your lovely friend and cousin. You guys look like you get into trouble!! But only the good kind. I too am a chocoholic, and my personal downfall is Dark Chocolate by Dove. Curse you deliciousness!!
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to let you know that you can now find the ever elusive chocolate seed beads at Aunties Beads Direct, and in all the sizes from 15/0 all the way up to 8/0. They sell all Miyuki seed beads in bulk. Very reasonably, too.
I am so inspired by your gorgeous creations, and I have learned so much from your tutorials, tips, and tricks to beading. Thank you so much for doing what you do!
How did you ever find those chocolate beads? I pretty much gave up trying to find them in 15/0 and 8/0 after seeing a Miyuki color chart that showed that they only came in 11/0. Auntie's also has them in 6/0, by the way but I rarely use that size.
DeleteI checked out Auntie's prices and discovered that they're located in Texas. That means I'd have to pay 8.25% tax as well as shipping. Their price is also high compared what I usually pay for metallic seed beads on other sites. The price ends up about double what I currently pay at Aura Crystals for equivalent metallic seed beads. I'm going to contact Aura and see if they can get the 15/0 and 8/0 in stock because I'm sure that their price would be better than Auntie's per gram and there'd be no shipping or tax. Plus, I wouldn't end up with more beads than I would be able to use in my lifetime. Aura sells 15/0 in 10 gram bags and 8/0 in 30 grams. Even if I bought a couple bags of each size, I'd still be well under the $101.00 that it would cost through Auntie's Beads for those two sizes. I had thought about maybe selling off some of them to other beaders at my cost plus the cost to ship them but I doubt that anyone would want to pay that much.
So, I will contact Aura Crystals and see what they have to say or just wait and see if they start showing up on other bead sites. Maybe someone at Miyuki has been reading my blog and saw my complaints about that color not coming in any size other than 11/0. It just didn't make sense to me to limit beaders to just one size of what should be a staple metallic seed bead color just like the dark and light bronze, etc.
I am in complete agreement, and I dont know why more bead sellers dont carry seeds in all sizes, on their sites. You usually have to buy from three different sellers to get the sizes you need, and pay s/h on top of that.
ReplyDeleteI usually go through Charlenes Beads to get hard to find colrs/sizes. She can usually special order, but when I asked her about the M 461 in 15/0 and 8/0 she said her distributor couldnt get them. I just dont understand...everybody loves this color, and its such a deep dark secret that they even exist!!! I found out about AB Direct by accident. I was looking up bead sellers for those beads, and their website was listed. I love it because if Miyuki makes it, they sell it. Even the Carnival gold seeds in all the sizes as well as frosted, plus tilas, long magatamas, drops, etc. They are currently working with Toho to become wholesalers for them also.
You probably do pay more with ABD, but if you need the colors, you know where to find them. Supply and demand! My current quest is to find Toho Blue Haze!!
I had also asked Charlene about getting other sizes and was told the same thing she told you. Her price on the 11/0 is higher than at Aura Crystals so I've never ordered them from her. Oddly enough, her Miyuki dark and light bronze are cheaper than Aura but Aura sells the 11/0 Met. Chocolate for less than their Dark Bronze. I just checked that this morning. So, I don't think that there's anything special about the chocolate beads that would make them be more expensive than the metallic bronzes.
