Belle of the Ball Earrings - Jet & Bronze

BELLE OF THE BALL EARRINGS
  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 3mm fire polished beads "Jet"
  • 4mm fire polished beads "Jet"
  • 6mm fire polished beads "Jet"

I'd been wanting to make myself a pair of basic black earrings that would go with a variety of outfits. I like these so well that I might have to make some basic black bracelets to wear them with. This earring design goes very well with the "Canterbury Bracelet" and I haven't made one in black yet.

The free "Belle of the Ball Earrings" tutorial can be found on THIS site. UPDATE: Unfortunately, this pattern is no longer available.

  1. Very elegant - look forward to seeing a black bracelet. Black is always a handy colour to have around as a piece of jewellery, goes with everything.

  2. just bought the poppy seed trio of beads from Queen City so I could make these earrings, or at least try them again. I failed the last time b/c I just couldn't get the pattern to come out for some reason. Will try a size 12 needle this time, I know you mentioned we could take detours through other beads, but maybe I was using the wrong sized needle for sz 15. if it fails again, I'll make a bracelet with the poppy seed colored beads.

    1. You definitely need to use a size 12 needle with this pattern.

  3. Linda did you find you had to fill in missing info while making this pattern, the Belle of the Ball earrings? it seems that I'm missing something and between steps 4 5 and 6 should the count in between each of the 6 points always be the same, when she says go to next (b) bead it just never comes out even. I keep ripping out and restarting.

    1. I do those three steps exactly as written, Melinda. Yes, there should be four beads between each of the single beads that are added in the gaps in Step 4.

Here's an idea that you can try to help you understand what she means. When you add those single beads between the groups of four beads in Step 4, use a contrasting color just for those beads so that they show up better. I found that depending on the beads that I'm using, it can sometimes be hard to tell which beads those are when I go back around to add the RAW picots. They will be sticking out slightly from the base round of beads.
