Bracelet of the Day - Half Tila Herringbone - Topaz

  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Metallic Chocolate" (461)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Metallic Chocolate" (461)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Metallic Chocolate" (461)
  • Half Tila beads "Tarnished Berry Bronze" (HT-457)
  • Half Tila beads "Matte Transparent Dark Topaz AB" (HT-134FR)

Although the color of these Half Tila beads is called "topaz", I think they look more like a dark rose, especially when I'm wearing it. They also call them "transparent" but "translucent" would be more accurate and the black thread that I used doesn't show through them. This bracelet has the look of old leather.

I goofed up on this bracelet. I've got 30 Half Tilas along one edge and 31 on the other side. It's important to make sure that you've got the same number of beads on both edges.

If you look closely, you'll see that I've added some of the berry bronze Half Tilas on the ends of the bracelet. This herringbone stitch is kind of odd in that there really is no ending. I think that continuing the main color on the ends helps make the bracelet look more finished even though the ends are quite irregular. This bracelet would have looked better if I hadn't neglected to add that final row. It's a little too long for me so I'll remake it correctly next time.

Read my original post HERE for links to a free pattern and YouTube video tutorials for making this design.

Yesterday I got some more Half Tilas in the mail to replenish my stash. I got more of the "Matte Metallic Copper" (HT-2005) that I used in one of yesterday's bracelets and the dye lot is very different. They are a much brighter copper color now. I'll have to decide if I want to use the new dye lot or the old one when I re-make the bracelet. Several of the other colors that I was re-stocking are different dye lots too so I won't be able to mix them with my old beads. Only the nickel plated ones still look the same. I did get one new color that for some reason I hadn't bought before. It's the "Matte Gunmetal" (HT-2001) that was used in the blue and black bracelet that I saw on Etsy HERE.
