Sarah Earrings

SARAH EARRINGS

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Gold" (4202)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Gold" (4202)
  • SuperDuo beads "Chalk Matte"
  • SuperDuo beads "Bondeli Matte Mint"

I needed to come up with something quick to make for Christmas gifts and I had just bought some new SuperDuo colors from Red Panda Beads. A while back I started working on a design idea for a bracelet made with just SuperDuos and seed beads and named it the Sarah Bracelet. I hope to publish the pattern sometime but the motif is really quite easy to make and it was just the thing for some quick and simple earrings.

SARAH EARRINGS

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Gold" (4202)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Gold" (4202)
  • SuperDuo beads "Chalk Matte"
  • SuperDuo beads "Bondeli Matte Coral"

SARAH EARRINGS

  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Nickel Plated" (711)
  • 8/0 seed beads Toho "Nickel Plated" (711)
  • SuperDuo beads "Matte Velvet Dark Teal"
  • SuperDuo beads "Matte Velvet Carrot"

This pair and the one below are both a variation of the basic pattern. The only difference is that I added a seed bead point at the bottom.

SARAH EARRINGS

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki/Czech "Full Labrador" (27000)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki/Czech "Full Labrador" (27000)

Arabesco Earrings - Chalk Lazure Blue

ARABESCO EARRINGS

  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Matte Metallic Bronze" (2006)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Matte Metallic Bronze" (2006)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Matte Metallic Bronze" (2006)
  • ZoliDuo beads "Alabaster Lazure Blue"
  • 3mm druk beads "Blue Luster"
  • 4mm druk beads "Blue Luster"
  • 4mm fire polished beads "Metallic Suede Gold"

Once again I used 4mm druk beads because I really wanted to make these earrings in one of my favorite colorways. I have never seen Chalk Lazure Blue fire polished beads so I had to use druks. The results aren't as neat as I'd like but I think that these earrings look good enough for my personal use.

You can buy Deb Roberti's pattern HERE. She also has a matching "Arabesque Bracelet" pattern HERE.

Arabesco Earrings - Rose Luster

ARABESCO EARRINGS

  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
  • Paisley Duo beads "Chalk Gold Luster"
  • 4mm fire polished beads "Luster Rose Gold Topaz"
  • 4mm fire polished beads "Lazura Orange"

Although I have Paisley Duo and ZoliDuo beads in several colors, I don't have enough of any of the colors to make bracelets. So, when Deb released her "Arabesco" pendant and earrings pattern the other day, I thought they were a great way to use up some of my stash. You can buy Deb's pattern HERE. She also has a matching "Arabesque Bracelet" pattern HERE.

  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Pewter" (4221)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Pewter" (4221)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Pewter" (4221)
  • ZoliDuo beads "Alabaster Mint Luster"
  • 3mm druk beads "Laurel Green"
  • 4mm druk beads "Chalk White Mint Luster"
  • 4mm fire polished beads "Crystal Sea Foam Metallic Ice"

Round druk beads aren't recommended for this pattern but I really wanted to try this mint green colorway and I don't have this color in fire polished beads. I had to tweak the number of seed beads that I used and the result may look fine in the photos but it's a little wonky. Because it's so pretty, I wanted to show this sample earring to you anyway. The fire polished beads look silver in the photos but they're actually pale metallic green on one side and transparent green on the other as you can see below. Aura Crystals has them HERE with a different color name.

SuperDuo Tile Earrings - Five Samples

I made these sample earrings back when I made the four pairs that I blogged about before. I thought I might make some of these into complete pairs but changed my mind. Before taking these samples apart, I took photos of them to give you some colorway ideas for this pattern.

You can buy Deb Roberti's "SuperDuo Tile Bracelet & Earrings" pattern HERE at Around the Beading Table. Note that Deb's pattern does not call for any 8/0 seed beads. I changed the top of my earrings to accommodate jump rings to attach the earring wires. I also used groups of three accent color seed beads on the outer edge of some of the samples instead of four because they fit the space better.

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Metallic Chocolate" (461)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Metallic Chocolate" (461)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Opaque Blue Luster" (65431P)
  • SuperDuo beads "Opaque Green Luster"
  • SuperDuo beads "Opaque Brown Dark Travertin"

The sample earring on the right in the photo above and the one below was made according to the pattern. For the sample on the left, I reversed the accent beads and the metallic seed beads in the outer rows and that somehow gave the earring a rounder shape.

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Hybrid Opaque Luster Green" (Y182)
  • SuperDuo beads "Chocolate White Luster"
  • SuperDuo beads "Opaque Ultra Green Luster"

I made this sample using the same colors that I used to make the pair that I blogged about HERE but I reversed the colors. Below you can see the complete pair from that post. I liked the colors better in that arrangement.

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Nickel Plated" (190)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Nickel Plated" (190)
  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Hybrid Blue Metallic Suede" (Y613)
  • SuperDuo beads "Metallic Sued Blue"
  • SuperDuo beads "Satin Metallic Lavender"

I like this colorway very much but I don't have anything to wear in these colors.

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Pewter" (4222)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Pewter" (4222)
  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Hybrid Vintage Rose Metallic Suede" (Y617)
  • SuperDuo beads "Metallic Suede Gold"
  • SuperDuo beads "Metallic Suede Pink"

Wavy Seed Beads Bracelet - Matte Starlight & Bronze

WAVY SEED BEADS BRACELET

  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Permanent Finish Matte Galvanized Starlight (557PFF)
  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Antique Bronze" (223)
  • 8/0 seed beads Toho "Antique Bronze" (223)
  • 4mm druks "Bronze"

Click HERE to watch the video tutorial for this bracelet on the Sonysree Creations YouTube channel. Read my previous post about the video HERE. Although the video suggests decreasing the number of beads when using Toho beads, I followed the Miyuki version of the tutorial when making today's bracelet. As you can see, the Miyuki version works just as well with Toho beads as it does with Miyuki beads.

YouTube Beading Tutorial - Wavy Seed Beads Bracelet

WAVY SEED BEADS BRACELET

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Teal Picasso" (4516)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Opaque Tan" (493)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 4mm druks "Bronze"

I saw a video for making this pretty bracelet HERE on the Sonysree Creations YouTube channel the other day. I just had to make one so I looked through my stash of Miyuki seed beads for three colors that would work together. Although Miyuki makes my favorite metallic seed bead colors, they have a very poor selection of colored seed beads. Toho makes a lot of very nice seed bead colors, and I have quite a few in my stash, but I wanted to try the Miyuki version first to learn the pattern. Since I have so few 11/0 Miyuki colors, I chose two colors that I thought might not look too bad together. I'm actually quite pleased with the colors as well as the bracelet design.

This bracelet is really just a sample so I will take it apart and remake it more carefully the next time. I mainly wanted to learn how to make the pattern and also to see how many motifs it would take to fit my wrist. Nine motifs is perfect for my size. The beadwork has a soft, flexible feel and the bracelet is about 3/4 inches wide. I added an 8/0 seed bead on each end so that I could attach my clasp with jump rings like I usually do. This bracelet takes a lot of thread. I estimate that my small bracelet took about 8-9 yards of Nymo D. You will also need quite a few of the outer metallic seed beads.

  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Antique Bronze" (223)
  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Matte Galvanized Lilac" (554F)
  • 11/0 seed beads Toho "Hybrid Blue Metallic Suede" (Y613)
  • 4mm druks "Bronze"

In the video she shows two ways of making the bracelet; one for Miyuki beads and one for Toho beads. After making the Miyuki version, I made the smaller sample at the top in the above photo using Toho beads as directed by the video. She has you reduce the number of beads when using Toho brand. I wasn't happy with the way the druk bead fit so tightly in the center and it caused the motif to bulge a bit. To satisfy my curiosity, I decided to try using the same number of Toho seed beads as in the Miyuki version. I'm glad that I tried that because it came out so much nicer as you can see in the bottom sample. I highly recommend just following the Miyuki tutorial even if you're going to use Toho seed beads. Since I haven't made a complete bracelet with Toho beads, I don't know yet how many motifs I will need.
