Fringe Earrings - Folk Art Style

FRINGE EARRINGS #93
  • 8/0 seed beads "Matte Black" (unknown brand)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Opaque Matte Black" (DB310)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Opaque Matte Glazed Honey Drop" (DB2285)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Opaque Dyed Red" (DB791)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Opaque Avocado" (DB1135)

I'm not sure if I have anything to wear these earrings with but I really wanted to come up with a scaled down version of some beautiful earrings by Anna Belous that I saw HERE on her blog. Her earrings are very large and would probably touch my shoulders so it was quite a challenge to make them much smaller yet still retain the folk art look of her original design. It took me a couple of tries to get the design on the top section to my liking.

I see in Anna's post that she had trouble getting the red beads to look the right color in her photos. She said that she actually used burgundy beads. Mine are red but not quite as orange red as you see in my photos. Computers always have trouble displaying red correctly.

You can buy Delica beads at Red Panda, Aura Crystals, Supply Emporium and Jill Wiseman Designs.

    1. Thanks. They're not my typical colors but I could wear these with a black top.

  2. These posts sure take me back. I started beading in the late 1990s during college, mostly with size 11/0 and 10/0 bought from craft stores, and I made so many brick stitch earrings. I still have some of the printouts of the online instructions -- probably the sites aren't even there anymore. (Most likely my design choices were hideous back then. I like to think things have improved in that regard.) I should try some again one day soon.
