Russian Leaf Earrings - Moody Blue & Red

RUSSIAN LEAF EARRINGS
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Galvanized Pewter" (4222)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Duracoat Galvanized Pewter" (DB1852)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Duracoat Dyed Opaque Moody Blue" (DB2129)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Duracoat Dyed Opaque Jujube" (DB2119)

I tried two slightly different versions of this design. After making a complete pair with the second version, I've decided that I prefer the first version. Oh well. It's easy enough to take them apart and re-make them. Below you can see the two versions side-by-side:

The first version is on the left. In the second version, I moved the top two "rays" up sightly higher on the earring. Now I think that doing so leaves too much blank space between the bottom motif and the rays. Below is the color chart that I used and it's for the first version.

  1. These are gorgeous :) One thing you may want to try is to use 15/0 seed beads where you've got your silver beads. I always use 15/0s as I prefer the look of the tiny beads there instead of Delicas. It might be worth giving it a try to see if you like the way they look?

    1. Thanks for the idea, Janine. I'll give that a try sometime.
