More Beading News - New DiamonDuo beads

These beads are so new that there is only one pattern available for them that I'm aware of. I have seen a gorgeous bracelet on Facebook but there is no mention of a pattern for it. You can see it HERE.

I first heard about DiamonDuo beads from Donna from Queen City Bead on Etsy. She asked me if I would like to try some and see what kinds of projects I can come up with using them. She sent me three colors. They are Jet, Antique Chrome and Hematite. I love the Antique Chrome the best. Donna currently has 24 colors in stock and you can buy them HERE.

These beads have two holes that go through the short ends. They're flat on the back and have a raised diamond shape on the front. They're smaller than Silky beads but a little larger than SuperDuos. Here's a photo showing them next to some Silky beads and SuperDuo beads:

The free "Crystal Cascade Bracelet" pattern can be found HERE and there is also a YouTube video tutorial for the pattern HERE.

  • Silky beads "Jet"
  • DiamonDuo beads "Jet"
  • DiamonDuo beads "Antique Chrome"

I came up with this bracelet the other day but I haven't thought of a name for it yet. When I have a chance, I will probably write up a tutorial for it. This was my first time making a wrap bracelet but I'm sure that it won't be my last. To fit my 6-inch wrist, I made the bracelet about 20 inches long. I used a tip from Deb Roberti to roughly get an idea of how long to make it. She suggested that I connect three of my skinniest bracelets together by their magnet clasps and measure the total length, including the clasps.

Here are a few more shots of the bracelet:

UPDATE: The idea never occurred to me until my cousin asked me if this would work as a necklace. So, I put it around my neck and it's the perfect length. There is only a slight problem where the beads in the front sometimes flip up a little because they don't want to curve properly. It doesn't look bad though.

  2. I think your wrap bracelet is just gorgeous and it would also make a pretty single strand stacker-type bracelet. Pattern it! It's awesome!

  3. Hi Linda,

I LOVE these beads! Thanks for letting us know. You've mentioned both antique chrome and antique silver in your post - which one did you use for your beautiful wrap bracelet?

    1. They are called Antique Chrome. I'd better correct what I said in my post. I have other beads that are called Antique Silver and they have a similar finish but they're not as speckled.

  8. Yes, please! Trying to figure it out... thinking I can do it with two needles, but I'm sure your way is easier.

  10. I'd like to add my encouragement, too. What a pretty bracelet. Did you end up publishing a pattern?

I really appreciate the info on the different types of beads. I'm just starting out and can't keep them all straight.

    1. Not yet, Silvia. It's on a list of about 20 patterns that I hope to publish sometime this year.

    2. I can understand that predicament! It looks like a 2-needle pattern I made. Am I on the right track?

    3. I didn't use two needles to make it, Sylvia. I avoid 2-needle patterns or I figure out a way to make them with one needle.

  13. Came across this bracelet recently on pinterest, saw that it directed you to be able to download the pattern but when you clicked on it nothing happened. I went through the comments and realized a pattern wasn't created as yet, but the last mention was in 2018, as it's 2020 I was hoping one was available now, if there is can you direct me on where to find it? As I too thought it was a 2 needle design.
