TARA BRACELET WITH MINIDUOS - SIDE TWO
  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
  • Rulla beads "Aztec Gold"
  • MiniDuo beads "Blue Turquoise Silver Picasso"

Today's bracelet is two bracelets in one. Because it's reversible, I took photos of both sides in all of the same poses. I blogged about this free pattern before where I had turned the motif into earrings. Read that post HERE. In that post I mentioned that I wanted to make the bracelet sometime but I needed to come up with a way of connecting the components. I think I might still try to come up with another way of connecting them but in the meantime these big jump rings worked pretty well. These are 8mm heavy gauge jump rings. I tried 6mm rings first but they were a little too small to go through two motifs.

I do think that the motif works better as earrings because they're rather thick. Because of that, the bracelet feels a little odd when I'm wearing it. I think I will put a toggle clasp on it if I do decide to keep it because I don't think the magnet clasp is strong or secure enough for such a bulky bracelet. However, a magnet clasp was better for posing the bracelet for these photos.

The "Tara Bracelet" pattern is available free from The BeadSmith site HERE.

I had a hard time getting the bracelet to twist to show you both sides so this is the best I could do:

In my earlier post about the Tara motif earrings, I also mentioned that I was having a hard time finding Rulla beads in good colors. My friend Claire from Supply Emporium has tracked down those elusive Rulla bead colors and you can buy them in her Etsy shop HERE. And, if you spend at least $30 in Claire's shop, use the coupon code "15BLOG" to get 15% off your order.

I made two extra reversible motifs to make a pai of matching earrings. Instead of bothering to add seed bead loops at the top for the hooks this time, I just inserted 5mm jump rings through the corners of the motifs the same way as for the bracelet. The earrings below are actually both sides of one pair.

  1. This is such a pretty bracelet and believe it or not my first thought when I saw it was to make it as a reversible. I've been thinking about those large square beads linking the motifs and wonder if you could use four (or eight) small Czech tile beads.

    Thanks for blogging.

  2. I made this as instructed (with wire) but used 2 melon beads in a coordinating color between the motifs. i love the jump ring idea, and the idea of it being reversible. when i make the earrings reversible i will use a kidney earwire so i can easily turn the motif to the correct color side.
    lovely job Linda!

    1. Thanks, Cally. When you make the bracelet with wire, is it like a bangle or does it have a clasp?

  3. I used a clasp. I briefly considered stringing it on elastic thread to make it more bangle-y, but decided not to risk breakage.
