RUSSIAN LEAF EARRINGS
- 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Light Pewter" (4221)
- 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Matte Galvanized Dark Aqua" (DB1172)
- 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Duracoat Galvanized Light Pewter" (DB1851)
- 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Duracoat Galvanized Matte Berry" (DB1838F)
- 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Opaque Dyed Peach" (DB1851)
I wanted to make a pair of "Russian Leaf Earrings" for myself to go with the top below:
- 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Light Pewter" (4221)
- 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Matte Galvanized Dark Aqua" (DB1172)
- 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Duracoat Galvanized Light Pewter" (DB1851)
- 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Opaque Matte Eggshell" (DB352)
- 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Duracoat Opaque Tea Rose" (DB2111)
First I made a sample earring in the colorway above but it ended up being a little too pale. In these photos it appears to be a nearly perfect match but my camera caused some of the colors to be a bit off. I kept the aqua and pewter but switched the eggshell and tea rose to a berry color and a darker shade of peach. Those colors are perfect even though the berry beads look very red in my photos. They look a little more like the beads below and there really is this color in my top:

Click HERE to download my free PDF file which tells step-by-step when to add each color Delica bead while making these earrings. This is NOT a tutorial for making "Russian Leaf" earrings". You will need to use Jill Wiseman's tutorial (see the link below) but make them with seven rows instead of nine as Jill instructs. The color chart below is included in the PDF file.
Read THIS post where I explain how I finish and reinforce my Russian Leaf earrings. I also have information about how I stiffen my earrings in THIS post.

I recently got some PaisleyDuos and some very tiny teardrop-shaped beads called DropDuos. I don't know of any patterns for DropDuos so I just made up some samples of simple flower-shaped earrings to try them out. The earrings in the photo above are very tiny and cute. They're only about half an inch in diameter. While I like these earrings, I'm hoping to find ways to use these beads to embellish bracelets.
UPDATE 3/19/19: I mentioned this in the comments and thought I should also tell you about it here in case you are wondering why one earring has rounded petals and the other has pointed ones. Although I used the same number of 15/0 beads on both earrings, the gold
DropDuos are quite a bit fatter than the teal ones, probably due to the
thick gold coating that they added. I ended up with some slack on the
teal earring so I wove around again and skipped the center bead on each
petal and made it pop out to form a point.
- 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Light Pewter" (4221)
- 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Light Pewter" (4221)
- 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Light Pewter" (4221)
- DropDuo beads "Teal Luster"
- 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
- 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
- 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
- DropDuo beads "Aztec Gold"
- 11/0 seed beads Miyuki/Czech "Vintage Copper" (CZ01770)
- 8/0 seed beads Miyuki/Czech "Vintage Copper" (CZ55003)
- PaisleyDuo beads "Copper Splash Turquoise Green"
With the PaisleyDuos, I made a sample earring using Deb Roberti's free "Petite Paisley Earrings" pattern which you can download HERE. I've blogged about this pattern before but I previously made the earrings with ZoliDuos. Read my post HERE.
I was very surprised to see how much of a size difference there is between ZoliDuos and PaisleyDuos even though they are supposedly interchangeable in patterns. They both certainly work well this earring pattern anyway. The pattern calls for some 15/0 seed beads but I don't have any in this copper color so I just used 11/0 beads instead in my sample earring. In the photo below, you can see my sample earring next to two earrings made with the same pattern and ZoliDuos.
I got my DropDuos and PaisleyDuos HERE at Queen City Bead on Etsy.

I blogged about these earrings before HERE but at the time I hadn't typed up the step-by-step instructions to go with the color chart yet. I finally had a chance to do so a few days ago.

ROBIN'S NEST BRACELET
- 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
- 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
- 8mm 2-hole Candy beads "Pastel Dark Coral"
- Pinch beads "Bronze"

This is a very elegant colorway and such a pretty shade of coral red. You can buy Robin Demarse's pattern HERE in Carole Ohl's Etsy shop.
This bracelet pattern works with both Miyuki and Toho seed beads but you will need to adjust the bead count with Toho. With Miyuki beads you use six 11/0 beads on each side of the Candy beads. With Toho beads, use only five on each side. I added a diamond motif on each end to attach my clasp. Without those extensions, the bracelet would have been a little too short for me. For my 6-inch wrist, I needed 8 Candy beads and 32 Pinch beads.
If you need to buy some Candy beads and/or Pinch beads, I have links to sources for both of them over on the right side of my blog under WHERE TO BUY..., or click HERE for Candy beads and HERE for Pinch beads. Bear in mind that they do make a larger size of Pinch beads but these are the regular 5mm size.
