I've been making quite a few of these brick stitch earrings since I watched THIS video tutorial by Potomac Beads. The smaller earring in the photo above is the same size as the larger one that Allie makes in the video. It's a cute size but I prefer slightly larger earrings these days so I've been making my own charts. Also, larger earrings have room for more design options as you can see on the larger earring above.
Although I followed Allie's video pretty closely, I find it more comfortable and intuitive to stitch in the opposite direction from what she does. I am right-handed so I add the beads to each row going from left to right instead of from right to left. I find it much less awkward working in that direction. I also add an 8/0 seed bead at the top of mine to attach a jump ring and earring hook. One more thing is that I don't use a stopper bead. It isn't necessary because the beads will be secured to the thread as soon as you go back through the first two beads.
I have decided not to make complete pairs of earrings in these two designs but I have made three more earrings in a variety of colors and patterns and I do plan to make the mates to them. I have also designed a bunch of color charts that I have yet to try out. I will post the other three pairs earrings once I have made the second earring to go with each of them.
You can buy Delica beads at Red Panda, Aura Crystals, Supply Emporium and Jill Wiseman Designs.
