I'm not sure if I have anything to wear these earrings with but I really wanted to come up with a scaled down version of some beautiful earrings by Anna Belous that I saw HERE on her blog. Her earrings are very large and would probably touch my shoulders so it was quite a challenge to make them much smaller yet still retain the folk art look of her original design. It took me a couple of tries to get the design on the top section to my liking.

I see in Anna's post that she had trouble getting the red beads to look the right color in her photos. She said that she actually used burgundy beads. Mine are red but not quite as orange red as you see in my photos. Computers always have trouble displaying red correctly.

I don't recall where I got the inspiration for these earrings. I enjoy creating new designs by adapting design elements that I've seen online. In most cases, I shrink the designs down to a size that I like to wear so they end up not looking so much like the originals by the time I'm finished. The green Delicas in these earrings are a sort of sage green and it looks about right in my photos. However, the "Nutmeg" Delicas look very orange in my photos. They are actually a little more yellowish kind of like acorn squash.

I blogged HERE a couple years ago about the same earring design made with mauve Delicas. I had originally seen earrings like these on the blog of Anna Belous. I haven't been able to find the original photo on her blog again but I recently came across it on the site where she is selling her beadwork. You can see her earrings HERE. Anna has some wonderful fringe earrings but most of them are much wider and longer than I like to wear. These are the exception. I like them exactly the way that she designed them.

In case you're wondering why I used Toho nickel 8/0 beads at the top of these earrings instead of pewter ones, it's because I wasn't thinking clearly and forgot that I was using pewter beads. Oops!

Mystery SuperDuo Bracelet Set - Rembrandt Sapphire

For this set I used another one of the new Rembrandt SuperDuo colors called "Matte Sapphire". To me they look more like teal or steel blue/gray and the color goes very well with these pewter seed beads. I should mention that these SuperDuos are actually transparent even though the bracelet appears to be opaque while wearing it. Having said that, the transparency might be a factor if you use them to make earrings. If you have very short hair, the light might show through the beads and give the earrings an odd appearance. I have long dark hair so that's not an issue for me.

I thought that I might make a pair of "Wave of Love" earrings so I made the sample above to see if I liked it. I decided that I didn't care for this design with these variegated beads so I made a pair of "Corundum Earrings" instead.

I've been having a lot of fun designing and making fringe earrings lately. Since I don't have anyone to make them for, I've been making them for myself in colors that appeal to me. I went through my wardrobe and my stash of Delica beads and I have mostly been making earrings that will go with the clothes that I wear. It's kind of challenging though because they don't make Delica beads in a lot of the colors that I wear. However, I have managed to come up with some pretty colorways to go with some of my favorite tops.

While trying to come up with some colors that would go well with one of my favorite summer tops, I tried the colorway below first. I often find that Delica colors actually look much lighter in the beadwork than they do in the container and these colors turned out to be much too pale. So, I went back to my Delica stash and found a darker shade of teal and a very dark navy blue that is also one of the colors in my top. I wasn't sure at first that the navy and teal would work well together but I think they look very nice as you can see in the photos above. I purposely kept the photos dark so that you can get a better idea of how dark the earrings are in real life. I only used three colors but I think they compliment each other very well. The sample earring is also pretty so I haven't taken it apart yet. I thought I might find something else to wear those colors with so I will hang onto it for a while just in case.

The sun has finally returned so I was able to take a LOT of beadwork photos yesterday. I took over 200 photos! I still have quite a bit of photo editing to do and blog posts to type today but I was able to get this post ready last night.

For this set I used one of the new "Rembrandt" SuperDuo colors. They look a bit like a mixture of beads but they're really just one color called "Rembrandt Matte Beige". Claire at Supply Emporium has these as well as all of the other available Rembrandt colors HERE. When you visit Claire's shop, you can either browse through everything she has to offer or do a search for "Rembrandt" if you want to go directly to the Rembrandt SuperDuos. If you look closely at my earrings, you'll see that I used a few 8/0 Picasso seed beads on the outer edge. The only place where I used light bronze 8/0 beads was at the very top of the earrings where the jump rings are attached.
