3D Peyote Triangle Earrings - Matte Blue Grey

3D PEYOTE TRIANGLE EARRINGS
  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Light Bronze" (457L)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Metallic Light Bronze" (DB22L)
  • 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads "Matte Blue Grey" (DB301)

I figured that while I was on a roll learning to work with Delicas and Peyote stitch, I might as well give Kelly Dale's YouTube tutorial a try. Her 3-dimensional triangles make very cute little earrings. They're nice because they have some thickness due to the tubular method used to make them.

You can watch Kelly's video HERE.

Kelly says in the video to use a yard of thread to make each triangle. That's not nearly enough. I started making one with almost a yard and had to add thread three times. I recommend using 2 yards or about 3 1/2 yards per pair. It's better to have too much thread than not enough. You'll need about 3 grams of Delica beads per pair of earrings. I didn't weigh out just the blue beads but you can assume that there are at least 2 1/2 grams of the main color because there aren't that many of the bronze beads in the earrings.

I added a seed bead loop to one of the corners using regular 15/0 seed beads. The loop is connected to the Delica bead at the very tip of the triangle.

You can buy Delica beads at Red Panda, Aura Crystals, Supply Emporium and Baubles & Beads.

  1. What a great job! I follow Kelly's Facebook page and I've been seeing all of the geometric shapes she's been featuring.

    1. As soon as I saw the triangle video, I knew that they'd make cute earrings. I'll probably try her square and oblong videos eventually too.

  3. You can buy the beads at Kelly Dale's website Offthebeadedpathbeadstore.com also. She has an e book available for $12 which features several 3D shapes. I did the square and she recommended 3 feet of thread for that as well and I had thread left over. She is a talented teacher and provides a new video every Monday. Be sure to check out her YooTube channel

    1. Apparently the triangle takes more thread than the square. I haven't tried making those so I can't say for sure. I just made another triangle and measured my thread on a yardstick this time instead of eyeballing it. I started with a piece that was 1 yard plus 7 inches. I only had barely enough to close up the last side with maybe 2-3 inches on my needle. This was not enough to weave in my thread properly. My thread was too short to keep it from coming off the needle. Plus, it didn't leave me enough to make a loop for my earring wire. I still recommend using about 2 yards or 1 1/2 yards at the absolute minimum per triangle.
