PRINTEMPS EARRINGS

  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457)
  • 4mm fire polished beads "Alexandrite Celsian"
  • 4mm bicones "Amethyst - #C12" (Beads One)

I first blogged about this set back in 2014 HERE. The bracelet had gotten a little tight on my wrist over time so I decided to re-make the bracelet and also the earrings. I re-made the earrings because I wanted to change the way the wires are attached at the top. Instead of attaching them as directed by the pattern, I used "Sidonia" loops this time. This allows the earrings to have a little more movement instead of being rigid. I also changed the clasp loops on the bracelet this time. By using jump rings, I can adjust the length as needed if I gain or lose a little weight again.

The interesting thing is how shiny and bright the beads look now considering that I did re-use the same beads. I think that's because I used FireLine this time instead of black Nymo thread. I suspect that the Nymo gave the transparent beads a dull appearance. Because FireLine is so thin it's almost invisible even though it's a dark gray color. I used 6 lb FireLine to make the bracelet this time and 4 lb FireLine for the earrings.

Unfortunately, I had a heck of a time trying to get the bicones to look purple in my photos. When there is no light shining through them, they appear to be black, but I think you can see the color pretty well in the photo at the top of this post.

Both patterns are by Deborah Roberti. You can buy the "Moon Ring Bracelet" pattern HERE. The "Printemps Earrings" pattern is free and you can download it HERE.
