Bracelet of the Day: Margareta DiamonDuo Bracelet

  • 15/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Galvanized Pewter" (D4222)
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Duracoat Galvanized Pewter" (D4222)
  • DiamonDuo beads "Antique Chrome"
  • 3mm melon beads "Turquoise Bronze Picasso"

On February 29th, I mentioned HERE about a pretty bracelet designed by Margareta Gustavsson that I saw on Facebook HERE. I haven't been able to determine if the designer is selling a pattern for it so I figured out how to make it by looking at the photo. It's really very easy to make once you know the stitch. I'll let you know if I hear of a pattern for sale for this bracelet and please let me know if you discover a pattern.

It's cute as a single row bracelet but I went ahead and made a double one. I didn't have enough of any one color of fire polish beads to make a complete bracelet so I used some 3mm corrugated melon beads instead. I think they look very cute with the DiamonDuos.

I made the little sample below while figuring out the stitch but I think that the colors are much too dark. Thankfully I had enough of the Antique Chrome beads left after making my wrap bracelet to make this bracelet.

  • 15/0 seed beads "unknown color and brand" (457C)
  • 11/0 seed beads Czech "Tarnished Berry" (CZ457B MR)
  • DiamonDuo beads "Hematite"
  • 3mm fire polished beads "Matte Smoky Topaz Picasso"

You can buy the DiamonDuo beads at Queen City Bead on Etsy HERE.

This will be my last blog post for a while. We have visitors coming for a few days and I need time to clean the house and get ready for their visit. I had to put all of my beading stuff away yesterday and won't have access to it again until later next week. After our company leaves, it will take some time to catch up with my beading and make some more things to blog about. In the meantime, play with your beads and have fun! I'll be back before you know it with more beadwork to inspire you.

  1. I love this bracelet so much Linda, and have ordered some DiamonDuo Antique Chrome beads from Queen City Beads. But I can't figure out the thread path so I truly hope someone can find a pattern or tell me what to do. I've been told I do beautiful work, but I'm just hopeless if I try to work without a pattern.

    1. I'm not sure what to tell you. I can't very well post the instructions here since it's not my design. I'll see if I can come up with some hints for the thread path but you'll have to remind me because I won't have time to refresh my memory of the stitches until later next week.

    2. I think I mentioned in my post that you start with one row and add the second row to it later. It might help you if you ignore the second row and just concentrate on working out how to do a single row.

It is my design and I am happy you like it.
However, I must say that I find it a bit uncomfortable that you re engineered and made an almost exact copy of my bracelet, even the colors. I know it is an easy pattern but as every pattern designer knows, there are hours behind even an easy design. There will be a pattern available as soon as I have time to write it down.

    1. Hi Margareta. I'm very glad to hear that you plan to make a pattern for your lovely bracelet. I don't know what you mean about "re-engineering" it. I haven't published a pattern for it and I am not selling any bracelets made from your design. If you have a photo online in the same colors that I used in my bracelet, I haven't seen it. I only had three colors of the DiamonDuo beads on hand when I made the bracelet so my color choices were very limited. I tried one of the darker colors first and wasn't happy with how it looked with that design so I used the Antique Silver beads instead. In any case, I haven't seen any of yours in the colors that I used.

When I said that the pattern is easy, I wasn't talking about figuring out how to make it. It took me a few tries before I found an intuitive way to make it. What I meant was that if someone has the pattern to make the bracelet, it's not a difficult bracelet to make once they know the steps that are involved. At first glance, your bracelets look quite elaborate and look like they might be complicated to make but they aren't as difficult to make as they might appear. It's a very pretty design and I'm sure that everyone will enjoy making them once you have your pattern for sale. I hope that you will let me know when it becomes available so that I can let my readers know.

  4. I did this bracelet with Deborah Roberti's pattern Trestle band. Just leave out the tiles and change the superduo to diamond duo. I used only seed beads size 11 and instead of 2 by the sides I used 3.
    Works perfectly the same

    1. I spotted the similarity right away and did use Deb's Trestle pattern as a starting point.
