Playing with my beads...Epi De Blé with Silky beads

Epi De Blé Bracelet
  • 11/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457D)
  • 8/0 seed beads Miyuki "Dark Bronze" (457D)
  • Silky beads "Crystal Gold Luster"
  • SuperDuo beads "Green Turquoise Dark Travertine"
  • SuperDuo beads "Aqua Picasso"

I bought Sylvie Camps' "Epi De Blé Bracelet" pattern a while back but hadn't tried it yet. This morning I decided to give it a try using Silky beads in place of the Tila beads that the pattern calls for. As you can see, they work very well. This is one of those patterns where you make each component separately and connect them as you go. Although I typically would try to figure out a way to avoid doing that, in this case that works out perfectly. Otherwise you'd have to run your thread over the top and bottom of each of the Silky beads. You will need to do that only on the two Silky beads on the ends of the bracelet where the clasp loops are added.

If you try the pattern with Silkies, you will need to make one little tweak. Add an 11/0 seed bead just before each hole in the Silky beads. They help keep the points of the Silkies from bumping into the SuperDuos on the sides of each motif. Other than that, just make the pattern as directed. Once you get the hang of making the motif, the pattern is super easy. The bracelet is about 3/4-inch wide at the widest point.

You can buy Sylvie's pattern in her Peyote Bead Art Etsy shop, HERE.

UPDATE: The metallic bronze Silky beads are from GC Supplies Texas on Etsy, HERE. They are listed as "Metallic Brass Coated Sapphire". They look transparent when you hold them up to the light but they appear to be solid bronze in normal light. I have bronze SuperDuos that are like that too.

    3. Thank you so much for the invitation to the group. I notice a few people that I know. I understand how it works now but I don't know how to pin to the board. Could you help me with that please. Thank you

    4. Okay.....I now see the pin sign. I had to close out and back in again before the add pin square showed up. Sorry for the mix-up. I'm on the right track now :-) Thanks

    5. Just remember that you should only pin your own work to the board, not pins that you find online. After you click the "Add a Pin" button, choose "Your Device". Next click "Choose Image" and find the photo on your computer.

    1. Thanks, Raisa. I like Tilas and CzechMates but sometimes they can look a little too angular. The diamond shape of the Silky beads seems to smooth out the look even though they are also square.
