Color Quest

Crystal Amber Gold Full
I just received a package of beads and beading supplies from Aura Crystals yesterday. I ordered a new SuperDuo color called "Crystal Amber Gold Full". You can view the color HERE on their site but the photo above has been edited to look more the way they look in real life. They're a pretty bright gold. I would love to buy some seed beads that match the color because they don't go at all well with any of my bronze seed beads. They're a lot brighter and a lot more yellow than any of my bronze seed beads.

So, does anyone know of a seed bead color that looks like shiny yellow gold rather than bronze? It would be really great if you know of a gold color that definitely matches these SuperDuos and have seen them side by side. The only metallic gold seed beads that I've seen online are Miyuki's Duracoat Galvanized and Toho's Permanent Galvanized. I have Miyuki's "Dark Gold (4203)" and "Light Golden Bronze (4204)" but they're more peachy gold than yellow gold. I haven't tried Miyuki's "Gold (4202)" and I wonder if that's what I want. Toho also has a Galvanized "Gold (P421)". I found the photo below of the Miyuki "Duracoat Galvanized Gold" on the Aura site but it seems to have a peachy look to me too.

Can anyone help me find some shiny metallic gold beads to go with my new SuperDuos?

    1. Fusion Beads has the same Toho color that I saw on Charlene's Beads but more expensive than Charlene's.

  2. Hi Linda,
I understand your frustration! I think the problem is that superduos are czech beads . Toho and Miyuki are from Japan. I actually think that the companies do not want to match colors for the reason of sales and money. The czech coating on miyuki may be an option. I checked for a little while online for you: Betsy at Red Panda has several of these colors but not in gold. I did another search and found a czech "after market" gold amber 11/0 called silky metallic amber on ETSY the store is "Beads of Bohemia" Maybe that will help? I have the Miyuki gold 4203 and a very tiny amount of Miyuki 191 . I think they would not be the right color for you?
I have spent a ton of time online looking at seed bead colors at good prices....
I had the same problem with silver full labrador superduos! I ended up using hematite color seed beads for contrast. I had the worst problem trying to match silver!! Red Panda now has full labrador 11/0..I am waiting on my order and had to wait for a sale.
I am on a tight budget ! I hope this helps..you do so much here to help us :)

  3. Hi again,
After I last posted I went to my stash. My Michael's(near Atlanta) have a small display with a very few toho 11/0.'s I am not sure if these toho beads are unique to Michael's?
I think different stores have different stock depending on the state?
I have the color Toho1951-104 called gold bronzed. It is hard to tell with my older computer but I think it looks pretty close! If you do not have a Michaels's close by with a toho display I would be happy to stop by mine and see if they have the color in stock; They are often sold out. I would be happy to sent a tube to you as a gift from me :) Really Linda I would be glad to help you...just let me know..
Thanks again for this wonderful blog and all you do here for us,
    Linda in Georgia..
you can message me on your Pinterest blog board as well as my email :)

    1. I do have a Michael's store in the area but I seldom go that way. I contacted Charlene last night and she thinks that the Toho colors aren't quite a good match. She's going to look through her beads and get back to me. She sells Matubo beads in a matching color but they're size 7/0, which is too big for normal bead weaving. In any case, she has those handy to compare the color with so I thought she'd be the one to ask. Thanks for the offer but I'll wait and see what Charlene has to say.

  4. I have an ounce or two of Miyuki 8/0 Duracoat Yellow Gold which I'll be happy to send you since I don't care for the color. They appear to be a match..

    1. Thanks for the offer, Micki. See my comment above to Linda in Georgia about Charlene's Beads. I'm waiting to hear back from her. She's going to let me know if anything is close to the color I'm looking for.

  5. The Toho beads at michaels do match other Toho but thre numbers don't match its a pain. If you go onto Darice site they are the ones who package and sell the Toho at michaels. They will tell you a color name but not the real Toho number. I drove myself nuts trying to figure it out!

    1. I bought some beads from Charlene's Beads that should work fine. I think I blogged about them but I don't remember the date.
